Join us on Thursday, October 8 for a reading by Mecca Jamilah Sullivan. 7:00 p.m. her reading will take place at University Theatre.

Mecca Jamilah Sullivan, Ph.D., is the author of three books: 饾槈饾槳饾槰 饾槑饾槳饾槼饾槶, a New York Times Editors鈥� Choice and winner of the Balcones Fiction Prize and the Next Generation Indie Book Award for First Novel; 饾槢饾槱饾槮 饾槜饾槹饾槮饾樀饾槳饾槫饾槾 饾槹饾槯 饾構饾槳饾槯饾槯饾槮饾槼饾槮饾槸饾槫饾槮: 饾槝饾樁饾槮饾槮饾槼 饾槏饾槮饾槷饾槳饾槸饾槳饾槾饾樀 饾槏饾槹饾槼饾槷饾槾 饾槳饾槸 饾樀饾槱饾槮 饾槇饾槯饾槼饾槳饾槫饾槩饾槸 饾構饾槳饾槩饾槾饾槺饾槹饾槼饾槩, winner of the William Sanders Scarborough Prize from the MLA; and the short story collection, 饾槈饾槶饾樁饾槮 饾槢饾槩饾槶饾槵 饾槩饾槸饾槬 饾槗饾槹饾樂饾槮, winner of the Judith Markowitz Award from Lambda Literary. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Temple University, and a B.A. in Afro-American Studies from Smith College. Mecca is Professor of English at Georgetown University, where she teaches courses in African American poetry and poetics, Black queer and feminist literatures, and creative writing. She lives in Washington, D.C.
