A new generation of future physician leaders is being recognized at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Eastern Virginia Medical School at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The newest student members have earned a place in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society, a distinction reserved for medical students who combine academic excellence with exceptional character and dedication to service.

AΩA, founded in 1902, is the national medical honor society. Its mission is dedicated to the belief that in the profession of medicine we will improve care for all by recognizing high educational achievement; honoring gifted teaching; encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community; supporting the ideals of humanism; and promoting service to others.

"The AOA mission goes beyond recognizing academic excellence. It’s also a celebration of strength of character and commitment to service," says Ronald Flenner, MD (MD ’89) Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, chair of Medical Education and professor of Medicine. "It is a reminder that being a physician is about caring for people no matter where they live and service to others is a privilege. I know that our students and their dedication to the profession will make us proud."

The new student members along with resident, fellow, faculty and alumni honorees will be inducted in May of 2026.
