The Office of Student Accountability & Academic Integrity assist students with bringing their actions into congruence with their values. The office of Student Accountability & Academic Integrity is responsible for responding to any incidents which may violate the Code of Student Conduct (e.g. classroom disruption and/or academic integrity).

Offers tutoring and mentoring programs, academic coaching and workshops, and tips and resources to promote student success.

For Academic Advising Concerns:

The Dean of Students Office is a resource hub, comprised of caring and supportive staff members who provide guidance to students who experience administrative, academic, or personal roadblocks. 

The Dean of Students team will: 

  • Offer a safe place to discuss concerns
  • Clarify University policies 
  • Answer questions concerning appropriate channels 
  • Assist with problems that have not been resolved by other offices
  • Make referrals to campus and community resources
  • Help identify options that are available
  • Open avenues of communication

Dean of Students

If a student is experiencing roadblocks that impact their personal or academic success, contact the Dean of Students office (DOS). As student advocates DOS provides student with mitigation, problem resolution, and referral services. If a student is showing aggressive behavior to you or another student, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ PD can act as your first contact to diffuse a situation and prevent it from escalating.

Patrol aides are on duty 24/7 and do campus walk throughs.

If a student has an illness, injury, or needs urgent medical attention, refer them to Student Health Services (SHS) on campus clinic for an appointment. We encourage students to wear masks and/or stay home for minor flu-like illnesses, stomach flu, and fevers to help prevent rapid spread of illness. Students needing urgent care should call SHS for an appt. so clinic staff can assess/prioritize the urgency of medical need for same day care and/or give medical advice.

Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in educational programs and activities. Virginia Law also prohibits gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

Complaints Under Title IX at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ

If someone has been subjected to sex discrimination or sexual harassment (including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, or sexual exploitation), please share information about available supportive measures, and inform them of their right to file a complaint with the Title IX Coordinator. Next, submit a third-party report to the Title IX Coordinator, or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Discrimination against pregnant and parenting students and employees is also prohibited, and supportive measures are available. Federal and state laws as well as University policy prohibit retaliation against anyone who files a complaint.

The Office of Women and Gender Equity Center LGBTQIA+ Initiatives is the primary resource on campus for LGBTQIA+ identities through education, on-campus engagement and advocacy. The LGBTQIA+ Initiatives strives to reduce homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism among the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community in order to provide an affirming environment through which all Monarchs can thrive. Safe Space Committee, an educational arm of the LGBTQIA+ Initiatives, facilitates ally certification trainings to assist in creating a more affirming campus.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guarantees students certain rights with respect to their education records. These rights include: Consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
