About the Program
Teen Health 360, housed within the Department of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) of the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at 黑料不打烊 (黑料不打烊) is funded by the through the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant administered by the .
Teen Health 360 advances adolescent health by engaging youth, families, educators, and community partners in collaborative initiatives. Our work integrates comprehensive sex education, educator training and capacity building, and community engagement, including crowdsourced Open Calls and cross-sector partnerships. Through ongoing data collection and evaluation, we ensure evidence-based implementation, continuous quality improvement, and responsiveness to evolving community needs.
Through school- and community-based services, Teen Health 360 provides medically accurate, age-appropriate, and evidence-based Family Life Education and Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) for youth in grades 6鈥12. The program also engages parents, guardians, educators, and community stakeholders to support informed decision-making about relationships, health, and overall well-being.
To ensure program sustainability, Teen Health 360 offers Training of Educators (TOE), professional development, and ongoing technical assistance for teachers, school staff, healthcare trainees, and community partners. These capacity-building efforts strengthen educator confidence, improve instructional quality, and support the effective delivery of evidence-based comprehensive sex education (CSE) programs across schools and community settings in the Hampton Roads region.
The annual crowdsourcing Open Call invites community members to contribute innovative ideas and creative voices that help inform adolescent health programming. The focuses on communication, consent, safety, and empowerment, promoting healthy relationships, bodily autonomy, and sexual wellness as part of a holistic approach to teen well-being. Community members are also invited to share ideas and join our Community Steering Committee, recognizing that collective voices and partnerships are essential to creating meaningful and sustainable changes.
Between 2021 and 2025, we conducted four rounds of crowdsourcing open calls to engage teens and community members in open dialogues about effective communication and healthy relationships for adolescents. Prizes were awarded to outstanding submissions, and winning entries were shared across various platforms to support program services that promote adolescent health and well-being.

Teen Health 360 Academy empowers middle and high school youth across Hampton Roads with free, age-appropriate Family Life Education, available in person or virtually. Prior to session delivery, health educators are led through a hybrid 鈥淭raining of Educators鈥 led by the curriculum partner.
The Teen Health 360 Academy provides free, medically accurate, evidence-based, and age-appropriate Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) programs for middle and high school youth. Research shows that high-quality CSE programs can delay sexual initiation, reduce risky sexual behaviors, and lower rates of sexually transmitted infections and teen pregnancy.
Academy sessions are offered in-person and virtually by trained and certified health educators, equipping youth with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about relationships, health, and overall well-being.
Since August 2020, a total of 168 health educators have been trained to deliver the Get Real curriculum under the Teen Health 360 program in schools and communities across Hampton Roads (updated March, 2025). Teen Health 360 collaborates with schools, healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and public health partners throughout Hampton Roads. These cross-sector partnerships support the delivery of evidence-based comprehensive sex education, strengthen local capacity for adolescent health promotion, and ensure that programs are responsive to the needs of youth and families in the region.
